I’ve been reading a lot of @pulte / #TwitterPhilanthropy and many of the cases are intractable and hard. One father has a daughter with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis. Both parents work. The medications are expensive. Medical bills pile one, wages get garnished. Mortgage default.

What’s the solution to rising healthcare costs. “Pay for everything,” isn’t sustainable especially with the demand to pay for everyone who makes it past the border. Good people are struggling and there’s no discernible solution.

What @pulte’s efforts have shown, and he’s being criticized for doing #TwitterPhilanthropy publicly, is that America’s poor are largely invisible. Even the left uses the poor as a punchline, calling people “hicks.”

Some have said that the culture wars are so brutal because we’ve given up on the hard problems. What do you tell a dad who works, his wife works, and they are going to lose their home because their daughter has an auto-immune disease?

Legitimate compassion is rare. Liberal media trafficks in outrage. Conservatives often glib, saying things like, “Well you should have saved up more money,” as if a child getting an auto-immune condition is a luxury expense.

Liberals say pay for it all, but we all know that’s not sustainable especially as they all said illegal immigrants get full coverage. Conservatives have this mindset on sick children.....”furniture.”https://twitter.com/benshapiro/status/817968543211790336 …

There is an has to be a third way between childish liberalism (pay for it all, even everyone who can get past the border) and heartless conservatives (lol you should’ve saved up for that cancer medication).

People are working hard but wages are low so most people eat cheap processed food, which leads to even more sickness and auto-immune diseases, and the cycle continues, and it’s only going to get worse until we grow up and face it.

These are the kind of ideas people should be coming up with re: healthcare. “Those credit cards that roundup and send to a fund? Make a card that does this. People can opt in for a tax rebate. All their card purchases round up and go to desperate families in need.”pic.twitter.com/sLouoEsZDJ

TWO THINGS 1. Mandated Price Discovery - end Medical industrial Complex Monopoly, & encourage competition on price and outcomes. 2. Promote a food renaissance, like the WW2 Victory Gardens. Educate people on the metabolic realities of what they shove in their pie holes.

Just think about executive pay at hospitals, pharmaceuticals, suppliers, software, etc.... and you see why so expensive. It’s about $3k/month for family coverage now. It’s stifling entrepreneurship unless you take a chance and go without.

Going back to DPC is the only thing that will drive the costs down. Until the falsely inflated price of medical expenses becomes less exorbitant, all of us are screwed, whether sick or healthy. We’re all being overcharged.

Yes, medical costs are the number one cause of bankruptcy. These days many use go-fund-me type of accounts to raise money.

Before I say anything, let me make it clear I’m not asking for help. I wish I could help others more because I know what it’s like. Your eyes would roll back in your head if I told you about the medical situations my family has suffered through no fault of theirs. It’s hard.

Food industry is a massive factor. Medical industry structure is warped. If you need a 2-3 year diploma to work in medical billing maybe the layers in between patient and frontline caregiver are too bloated.

All I know when I go to the vet I am told what each procedure or drug will cost. Our system that our politics has made you can’t even find out drug costs until after you have the Rx filled, forget trying to find out MRI, surgery, etc costs. No transparency. Patient has no choice
