The USD is based on the US government's ability to tax and force payment in US dollars. A very powerful basis. Crypto currencies have no such basis, and can, and eventually will, be crushed by the financial regulators.

The blockchain prevents this from occuring and as a finite resource it has hige potential for value growth. I agree governments will try to close crypto down. We shall see..
