You said it. Their fans. That's it. In Chicago you wouldn't have known a world cup final was going on unless you follow women's soccer or happen to be at a sports bar. For the men's world cup games, even round robin, Grant Park put up video screens and filled up for US games

They could have promoted their sport and been cherished by all as national treasures. Being the best of the best, and encouraging other women to do so too. Unfortunately, some have used their fifteen minutes to spew hateful rhetoric. Many will turn the channel because of this.
