Same in Canada..I know a 35 YO guy that turned down a 55k/year job to just go on benefits. Just a total waste of potential.

The end of democracy is when the electorate begins to vote for the candidate offering the most free shit. I’m paraphrasing Alexander Tytler. You can see the shift happening with the Democratic party. Only a matter of time....

American is still the richest and most powerful country in history. It has 100 more good years on inertia alone

You’re confusing “America” with the coastal elite.
-
Unfortunately the way things are going, the coast elite will end up dictating policy positions for the whole country. All that needs to happen is the abolition of the electoral college. The already happens at the state level. Look at Washington. Majority of counties vote red...
-
however, the population centers like Seattle, Tacoma, and Olympia all go heavy heavy blue. The entire state struggles because of liberal policy positions in matters like housing, development, our approach to chemical dependency, homelessness, healthcare, employee wages..
-
Totally agree with that assessment and for politics it’s applicable, what about when the politics fail and we are looking at 1859 again. The survivability of the coastal will be measured in weeks, the “fly overs” will survive to rebuild. Hopefully with lessons learned.
