Can you instantly, or near instantly sell your position in BTC? Everything I read says it’s hard to cash out at times.

Coinbase, Bittrex and Kraken are all well-regulated US crypto exchanges that are _relatively_ trustworthy for selling bitcoin for dollars. There's a few others, but arguably the most popular. Also, Bittrex has no limits on dollar withdrawals to approved customers in the US.
