Social media is a huge problem. Parents are not home to guide kids. Helicopter moms are way out of control. Kids have zero chores at home and thus feel they are just a burden not contributing. Kids not allowed to just be kids. No time for creativity.
I grew up in rural NJ. 50s and 60s. There were tons of guns there. Many kids hunted. Respected guns. No threats to use guns against other kids. Punching not shooting. Lots of alcohol in most homes. Kids drank. Few divorces. Fast cars. Crazy times.
IMO, the diet most kids have today is contributing to depression, triggering, etc. Kids are hooked on sugar. It is heroin to them. It starts with cereal, pop tarts, soda, juices, etc.
