He wasn’t making fun of the death of a 17 year old. He was making fun of Obama comment, “Trayvon could have been my son”
Tbqh I laughed. My broader point is his gatekeeping function and black listing of people while making his own over the line (or nearly so) jokes.

My take on Trayvon Martin? Both George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin acted understandably based on what they believed but Treyvon Martin died because they both went too far, Zimmerman by tailing and Martin by hitting. Lesson? Vigilantism is a bad idea all around.

What makes a lot of commentators on the right look awful is that even if Martin really was casing places for burglary, that’s not a capital offense he deserved to die for and if Zimmerman hadn’t tailed him, there wouldn’t have been a confrontation that led to his death.

What I recall from the trial is that there was a 5 minute phone call between Trayvon and a girl he was talking to and Zimmerman had lost sight of him in that time. Trayvon then tried to find Zimmerman. My memory might be off though.
