I think you have a solid point here the only issue is context, I understand these are heinous statements but it’s edgy humor. I don’t think it’s healthy to remove context from something or not understand the persons original intent especially if it was joking.

I personally think the James Gunn tweets point to some possibly terrible things about him. But is it still free speech without evidence? I would have to say yes. But someone go get some evidence, please!

Defending and disagreeing with the consequences are two different things. Ben said James Gunn shouldn’t be fired for those tweets. He has he thinks the tweets are abhorrent. That’s not defending the tweets.

James Gunn was so clearly advertising to other pedos that he is a pedo. Nobody who jokes that often about about the same exact topic in completely irrelevant contexts is "joking" about it. They're *signaling* about it. This goes double when it's a taboo topic
