So my mom is in an mental institution and will probably live out the rest of her life there. Not a way I wanted to start off a thread, but my family has seen America's mental health system inside and out, and maybe others deal with these problems. Here goes....

‘Regular people’

'Regular people' who are NOT in the arena like Mike is, is what he means.

Mike, you are not alone. Thanks for sharing. You are a very brave person. Know that there are others just like you. About those who use your personal history against you, what they do defines them for who they are, not you. Stay strong, we need you. (: Tom

From what I've seen, our mental health hospitals are using old drugs and are run down. It's disturbing, and for whatever reason, our mental health care is stuck in the 1960s. Stay strong and ignore the impolite bullies.

Most people have a family member with some form of mental illness or drug addiction. Odd, they spend time & effort trying to normalize transgenders than actually working on de-stigmatizing mental health & addictions that effect way more people. It’s sad.

My life has been filled with bipolar struggles. Mom was never diagnosed as back then there was really no name for it. 60’s My sister in Law has been disabled her whole life. Now 61, her kidneys are failing from lithium. It’s tough. No “getting well”.. all you can do is manage it.

I wouldn't say you were insane Mike, but you are atypical. That's not a bad thing because for you it works. It drives you. Reminded by Kanye saying what he has gives him an edge. You a lesser a degree but it's there. It has made you a successful person.
-
I mean you have done shit (self exposure) that no ordinary person would do. I theorize that there is a tipping point where it debilitates people, sort of like too much heightened awareness causes paranoia and anxiety to the point of mania. Think from a evolutionary POV.
-
What genetically makes people bipolar or schizophrenic when mixed right could make them bold, assertive and confident. How much of our personalities are nature vs nurture? What makes people natural alphas bs natural betas? Or do you buy into that?
-
If so, what does it take to overcome a genetic obstacle to reach a certain state? As you stated with certain levels there is no overcoming - there is only hope for normalcy with medication.
-
As for the cost of pharmaceuticals, it's pretty obvious heavy regulation has favored monopolies who price fix at whim. The only answer is to open it up to more competition, but that is not an easy road with the high liability of medicine. It's going to take some smart folks.
