We still may end up going to war with Iran. Trump's withdrawal from the nuclear arms deal and his attempt to strangle Iran's economy was a mistake that may have led Iran to lash out (If Iran was indeed responsible for the bombings.) /1

Because we backed out of the deal unilaterally and pressured other countries to try to isolate Iran, we ended up isolating ourselves. We are unlikely to have any allies if we go to war with Iran. We still may end up in a war, even though it would be disastrous for everyone /2

I don't think either Trump or Khameini WANT a war, but Pompeo and Bolton and a bunch of neocons are pushing for it. Events can get out of control. And Trump has done what would have been impossible for any ordinary man--make Iran look like the sympathetic party before the world.
