People are terrible with thinking about the second and third level consequences of their actions. Climate Change is an example where some of these “solutions” will be as bad or worse than the problem they are trying to solve.

This is what is happening now with viruses. Too many antibiotics created unstoppable super-bugs.

'Faulty Comparison' fallacy FTW!? Tinkering with a complex system is harder than destroying everything within that system. Nuking the world into a permanent winter is no longer in any way difficult. Maintaining a specific balance is.

Are you saying the same overlords who were responsible for mass public sprayings of DDT dont have the best track record for determining environmental public good?
-
Fortunately they stopped using DDT and millions of people around the world died as a result from malaria.
-
But not here in the great USA am I right?
-
You are right, there are not 1 size fits all solutions for environmental management (Im also in canada, a place very similar to the US in how DDT was also misused by the state, but different in how the major political party colours are inverted and how we have even less malaria)
-
I’m sorry I didn’t mean any offense. I just want people to be cognizant that the decisions being made on matters like this have real consequences.
-
Youre totally right ('chestertons fence' in this case would be knowing why ppl use pesticides before banning them) North Americans often seem to forget not just how malaria was a problem here but also typhus etc. Point was both a states over use AND banning of pesticides is wrong

A few years ago I used the dying rabbit call at my cabin, within minutes coyotes were running the ridge, now they’re in my backyard in the city. They can survive anywhere.

Wolves here in Minnesota need to be culled. Sorry if that hurts your feelings.
