I've come across a few people in my lifetime, who've helped to teach me this lesson. Whenever I yielded to their hate filled will, I was unknowingly giving them authority over my own will/emotions. We can protect ourselves without hating those who would harm us.

Love without discipline will raise a spoiled child....same for everyone else

But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you. Matthew 5:44

I love those that love. I feel sorry for those that hate.

Not easy, and honestly, my love doesn't have to be wasted on them. There are plenty causes in this world to be pouring the love into, rather than lost causes.

I never thought of submission being the opposite of love. I would never submit to or love my enemy's i crush them.

I prefer a wry smile that I've defeated them in battle.
