I'm OK with an antitrust investigation, especially if they tweaked search algorithms to influence elections or arbitrarily apply rules at YouTube according to politics.

In the old days, people didn't have to announce doing every part of their jobs, they just did their jobs. It doesn't take an "investigation" of Google/Alphabet to know they're a monopoly. Question is,how will they be broken up? We STILL have most areas that have no choice of ISPs

I remember when the Justice Department investigated Microsoft for anti-trust... claiming it had too many advantages and no other operating system or browser had a chance against them. I wonder if Google's lawyers remember those days, too...

The problem is, they don’t have defined products like Microsoft with Windows and Office when that was talked about. What we need is regulation that makes all search engines open source and transparent.

Vertical separation. Force companies to allow access to same back-end database (for a small but fair price) to anyone that wants to run a user interface. The latter can sell ads or subs for users to access to the same platforms they already use. Best of both worlds. Break them up

(And ban the former company from operating its own user interface)

Compare the Search results for the_donald subreddit on Google versus DuckDuckGo. The subreddit link is totally banned from google results while on DuckDuckGo it's the first result.
