Schools are unprepared to deal with gifted children. Most schools don’t even have programs or know what to look for. Read Dabrowski.https://twitter.com/Kennypoohhh/status/1132534516604522496 …

As a child my daughter hated tags on her shirts. I tore them out. I was told by her school she had ADD, and must be medicated. I said no. They told me not medicating her was abuse. I told them, that trying to force me to medicate my child unnecessarily was the abuse

I’ve seen this. Gifted children without the right school environment will zone out due to boredom. The mindless monotony forces them to space out to satisfy their need for creativity. Can be bad if they develop inability to concentrate.

If my parents hadn’t been able to homeschool me, I’d never have been labeled a trouble maker, drugged and written off. Now I’m taking over the world.

We moved to the best school district in the area that we could afford. It had a good gifted program and both my kids were in it. Made a huge difference

It’s all about test scores. Gifted students are often given to the worst teachers b/c they learn anyway. Struggling students are given to the best teachers b/c they teach strategies to bring up their scores. Professional development focuses on this ... school for the masses.

Forced grouping in a building with a socially promoted babysitter is not education. Escape from Kiddie Prison, boys and girls.

Agree Mike. My son was diagnosed in elem. school with ADD and we made decision not to medicate. He was just bored, he completed his work and homework in class with time to spare. Went on to dual enroll in HS and College earning a 4.O+ in both and ranked No.1 in his class.

And schools pretty much hate gifted children. They're told how "privileged" they are and are treated with contempt when they question authority.
