Postmodernism is destroying literature. There may be a better writer, but he wouldn't get published. I say He, intentionally keeping in mind Flannery O'Connor is top 5 gangster.

Help me out Voltaire. Happy I've only seen the films; I discovered he wrote "No Country for Old Men" the film adaptation of which I ADORE, and that he also wrote "The Road" which I LOATHE, to the point of calling it evil anti-art. I hear the book is worse than the film; wtf?

Try Blood Meridian. It's pretty dark, but the world can be a dark place. I think Dostoyevsky may be the greatest anyway, or Nabokov. But McCarthy is easier and more entertaining. Maybe it's the translation.

Don't laugh. Stephen King. His early writing has never been equalled. He gets no respect because its horror but as a someone who can create real worlds with just words, he has no peer.

Cormac is pretty damn good. Kind of manly, so he's got that going against him.
