Instead of taking the money away from all rich, we need to make sure they cannot obtain it by parasitic means.

When people talk about “taxing the rich” they really mean “taxing people who have more that I do” try it, ask people what the tax brackets should be, the number they start to assign the most tax to is the number they figure they have no chance of making themselves

I find privately-funded innovation to be the most efficient AND effective means of advancing the human species, so I want those people to have as much support as possible.

I’m trying to think of an alternative to “invest in private sector” or “be taxed”. Perhaps offshoring $? But then I’d wonder why it’s so much more cost-effective for those people to offshore $, and I’d want to look into removing any unnecessary artificial costs domestically.

What are your thoughts on a negative income tax bracket?

The problem here is that taxes never stay in one place, or for one group. But also, no one has a right to tell someone else how much they can have of their own property.

"broke" people worry about this kind of stuff for a couple reasons. First because they know that when one group can be targeted, they could be next. More importantly though, they hope to one day be in the same position.

Why do they always, always, ALWAYS, use the word “progressive” to replace “draconian”?

I think trying to manage the money of the rich people is kinda socialist idea. Lobbying is wrong though...

I’ve lived at multiple income levels... dirt poor and on assistance, lower middle class, middle class, and upper middle class. What I’ve learned is that the more you make, the more they tax you, and the harder it is to get and stay ahead.

Its the general attitude towards any degree of wealth. Today its Bezos and Gates or whatever. Tomorrow it could be me and you and uncle bob. Wealth is subjective. We just want to make the low hanging fruit harder to grab. The squirrel eventually get to the fruit at the top!

Yeah it's a weird phenomenon you're right, hadn't thought about it before. What benefit do we get? None. I suppose it's simply a perceived fairness

Or... People know that "the rich" don't have unlimited money and that regular people will end up footing the bill for all the new government programs that "the rich will pay for".

When people talk about taxing the rich, they usually mean taxing the middle class. The mentality is all wrong. Government giving handouts will not fix the economy. Rewriting the rules will.

The govt workers who would spend/administer those moneys don't make $200,000. They're grown adults. Forget it.
