Brown people live at home until they get married. And in many cases after they are married.

Clans and culture.

I love extended family. My adult sons live with us, one in his own space on the home lot. The boys need the time to save up funds for their future - why not do it here? We have space for the summer relatives, and I have a bunkhouse for our men. We are always a full house.

Good to here! Great to have that sense of community. In some cultures the word for an aunt or uncle from the dad's side is a different word than one from the mother's side. It is that important. We need a mess of help to stand alone.
-
Honestly, for us, it was about what was logical. Share resources, save money, work together to grow the family business. Then add in the support that comes from being able to rely on a network instead of being alone.

Grandparents play a significant role in the children's life in Israel. It's a Jewish tradition. Jews used to stick closely together in small towns and villages, before Israel was founded. It's also possible because Israel is a relatively small country.

Being a nuclear family myself kinda sucks... I'm either at work or working at home. Always things to do. Not to mention no one to split bills with.

Yup- I didn’t realize this until I went to Uganda and everyone kept their immediate and extended families under the same roof or at least on their own property. They were close and happy. Our culture didn’t make sense to them.

Not everyone has the luxury of finding work where all their relatives live.

I never took the “nuclear family” literally- I assumed everyone else lived within walking distance of their relatives like I did-seeing more of the country as an adult I know I was very lucky and still am-could “nuclear family “contribute to suicide, opioid crisis etc?

I do wish my family lived closed so my babies can see them more. I do wish I made smarter choices(I don’t blame anyone, I don’t blame the white man, I take responsibility. Everyone should in their own lives)so I have extra income to travel to see them more. The latter will change

A number of factors. Societal constructs last 60 yrs coupled with bad decisions, habits. Zeroed out, with the realization you’ve been duped and played right into it.
