Books are great for a focused understanding. Twitter is great for a generalized understanding with focused insights.

idk man, for as much as I love twitter, I gotta disagree lol. I follow some incredible people and this shit still feels ridiculously toxic at times & I feel dumber/more anxious from reading the mental illness on here. books (podcasts, etc.) give me more internal fulfillment.
-
Same. I love to read, but because of Twitter I suffer from FOMO. I legit feel the world will change entirely if I don't check it after more than an hour. Won't argue with anyone who says I have an addiction.
-
we’re all addicted and it isn’t just to twitter. it’s social media overall. what Iearned from taking hiatuses from here and other socials is that you’re truly not missing much. nothing that will impact your life in a massive enough way to be tethered to this app lol.
-
Agreed, but that's what makes it an addiction. I know in my mind it's just a bunch of trash talking, jokes, and memes, but the anxiety still kicks in if I don't at least glance at it. Need to learn how to start breaking the conditioning.

The problem with Twitter is you quickly realize it is the same people saying the same things day after day and it gets boring fast.

Non-fiction books often run redundant. But Twitter can’t touch great fiction.

I find it best to throw on the audio book and read twitter while listening.

Could it be because the people with the good takes on twitter did the hard work for the rest by reading these books in the first place and then translating that info into tweets? Or maybe the best takes are simply from personal experience.

Are you reading the wrong books or reading the right Twitter?

Finished Child of God, One Hundred Years of Solitude and The Wisdom of Psychopaths this month. Twitter is the battlefield in which the knowledge you obtained finds it's voice. It's fun to exercise things you've retained, and I don't blame you for enjoying the medium so much.
