I think they have a weird/skewed view of humility - those who celebrate their own success (and beauty) are, by their standards, not humble. Even our greatest achievements as a civilization become something to be ashamed of instead of celebrating. This is an extension of that.

Agreed. Humility is the recognition that everything good, true, and beautiful in our lives is a gift from God. It's not -- to quote C.S. Lewis -- thinking less of ourselves; it's thinking of ourselves less.

I think left-wing largely reject any celebration of self. It's like a secular/modern version of purity and humility (just with different moral definitions on what is "pure").

The left attacks beauty because it creates a hierarchical structure. They hate heirarchies. Extend the right out and you get hierarchical rigidity. Too much order Extend the left out and you get complete absence of structure. Too much chaos. Both need tyranny to implement
