Facebook has chosen to act as a publisher, and thus Section 230 immunity must be stripped from them. Repealing Section 230 is lawful and also part of the free market, because the immunity was *government-created*. Repeal Section 230.https://www.npr.org/sections/alltechconsidered/2018/03/21/591622450/section-230-a-key-legal-shield-for-facebook-google-is-about-to-change …

Perhaps the 'publisher' of facebook should be thrown in jail like the publisher of wikileaks?

I agree I think the moment they ban any legal free speech they are no longer acting as a platform.

Does this mean I can sue Youtube if someone posts an offensive video?

Exactly! Conservatives arguing that we can't do anything about censorship because "you don't want the government regulating social media" are uninformed at best, but more likely disingenuous. This would simply be removing government protection from liability that has been abused.

Why would anyone WANT to be on Facebook? Create your own.

Lots of the older demographic that rarely leave their home are on FaceBook. This new policy will punish Grandparents from getting updates on their grandkids...for talking about popular news topics. Too far.
-
I am a military spouse and a Mom to 2 teenagers. I am not a grandparent. Many, many of us use facebook as an easy way to share important information easily and help each other. I would love to use another platform, but nothing exists that allows the same functions.
-
I understand. Would you trade the convenience for government oversight? Government regulation? Or would you switch to a competitor? Remember, there is always email.
-
Email does not capture the coordination that I'm describing. Meanwhile, its a bit of a prisoner's dilemma: I would happily switch to another platform or another method, but all that would accomplish is my being uninformed. It only works if a majority of the users switch.
