Most generous people prefer not to advertise. Their is a Christian admonition to do good works in secret. I don’t trust people who boast of their generosity

thank you. I came to comment something similar. True virtue seeks no eyeballs.

This would be true if the tip givers were seeking out someone to tell their story to as if they tipped well just to brag which is what the verse in the Bible is talking about. This tweet is not talking about that at all.
-
ehhh I could see people of hidden inwardness keeping their deeds secret even in this context.

If you brag about your giving, you've already received your reward in this life. This is why Christians aren't supposed to go announcing their giving with trumpets and other public shows. If you want to bless someone for the sake of blessing them, don't go around telling others.pic.twitter.com/FtUCO4ww0L

I personally think that anyone who does such gesture and then talks about it might've not necessarily had making that person's day better as their primary motivation :)

I salute your respect and gratitute to folks in the service most of them sure deserve it. However the paradox of gracious giving is that its nobility is celebrated when the tale is told by those who receive from the man with no face and not when told by the man who's given.

My favorite undercover move is paying for an elderly random couple at dinners tab on the way out. Never even letting them know who did it.
It truly is better to give than receive. -
This happened to my parents when they were on holiday. Amazingly uplifting for them.

Doing a good deed and then bragging about it defeats the purpose and more than likely means you did it for self gratification.

I got a 100 tip once as a dog track valet...... I was in college and had zero money.... I’ve returned the favor many times and said simply hard work pays off....

That’s fine but there are equally good ways to give. Imagine saying I ask people if they take time out of their life to tutor underprivileged kids and if they don’t I never speak to them again. Throwing a little cash at someone once doesn’t make them a better person.
