I paid for college on GI Bill, graduated with no student loans debt AND ALSO suppose student loan bankruptcy. It’s possible to support polices that are good for the nation even if your story doesn’t apply.

It was the student loan programs that caused college tuition to get out of hand to begin with. Before the government "guaranteed" payment, tuition at Harvard was about $1,000.

180 opposite you on this issue, Mike. Sorry. Bailing out malinvestment is never ok with me. I built a great career in tech as an autodidact. I'm not taking the shaft for millennials majoring in Genderqueer Indigenous Peoples Studies.

the typos are atrocious but you get what im saying. soon, retail and food service will require degrees. working class jobs are dying.

I was brainwashed in the AVID program in HS that I needed to get a college degree no matter what. I was really young and did not understand the loans I was taking out. I wish I would have never gone to college and just worked my way up in one of my jobs along the way. Oh well.

I think it is necessary to end the madness of perpetual student debt, but it must also come with the government getting out of education loans/grants/regulations. Make universities subject to the pressures and demands of the market - they'll be forced to provide value or die off

Agreed Mike. Many are eager to shame Americans who were led to believe that a college degree meant something while having nothing. A significant amount of middle class people are being held back due to that debt.

I disagree with student loan bankruptcy- you can get a student loan to live off of and take just a few classes online. Student loans cover more than tuition.

Also this will not be a one time thing and in no way corrects the over inflated cost of tuition. It will encourage people keep taking out loans for degrees that hold little value. 💁‍♀️

We could start with just canceling the debt of people who did not complete their college degrees, and make their universities reimburse the banks -though the banks should lose future interest. The universities allow these people to continue taking classes knowing they will fail

Bankruptcy will create a bit of incentive for lenders to pick good students/borrowers. STEM type stuff during the day and liberal arts fun at night. Both in college and the real world.
