Do you know why I despise the "SHARIA LAW IS COMING" freaks and know they are bigots pandering to paranoid boomers? I did a documentary on how Qatar exports terrorism, it's sensible and nuanced. Nothing form the "muh Sharia is coming" social media crowd.https://securitystudies.org/blood-money-how-qatar-bought-off-the-entire-dc-establishment/ …

I think it’s because it’s complicated—it’s a far easier story to undertake and tell to say “oh it’s all the same” and to not process events occurring in real time.
-
It’s also because people have been so (unfairly) maligned for making even the slightest critique of things in the Islamic world. Their positions harden, and they retreat into a bubble that actually prevents good analysis.
-
What I think is fascinating is, the narrative that’s featured in Blood Money is *not* the bullshit, PC “religion of peace” nonsense—it’s far beyond that—and it’s also not demonizing the Islamic world, either.
-
It’s the first really mature (and true!) narrative that doesn’t both pull the wool over the eyes of the west or lead to a zero-sum civilizational conflict. So of course it’s ignored at first—but it’s early days. I have no doubt within a few years, it’ll be a commonplace idea.
-
I honestly think a bigger documentary needs to be made about the origins of the brotherhood and their history in the region and how they infiltrate world politics And actually visiting KSA, UAE to speak to real people here.
-
It would be a hard thing to make, actually, but possible. I’m not sure a film about complex ideas (as opposed to events or people) can hold the imagination for very long. I may be wrong. Even films about ideas are told through some kind of dramatic action.

I want to do an episode on FIFA. There’s a lot going on and a series format would be ideal.

Most of those kind of experts dealing with terrorism make a distinction between Islam and islamism, that distinction was created really lately when the gulf money came. In reality there is no separation. The idea of terrorism has a tool of conversion began with Muhammad.

I see the "Sharia law reh reh reh" stuff and think to myself, "These people have never met a redneck, and have no idea what would happen if 60 million rednecks got wind of Sharia law popping up stateside." Never gonna happen.
