Every time the women in my life want to get in shape, I tell them about weightlifting, but they just shut me down with "I don't want to look bulky", is there any way to dispel that myth for them? Or are they just making excuses, as I do for running?

I’d say that women do more exercise than men in the modern age. Might be wrong but my opinion.
Go further, women should lift like men”. Most are afraid of getting too big. Won’t happen.Ok to skip forearms but they should lift everything else. I got my secretary on the same program I do and she finally admitted that prior to lifting like a boy, she was wasting her time
Men & Women should be introduced to kettlebell focused training. It combines free weight, endurance, and functional training. Everyone starts at their own level. Find a studio or gym that offers these types of classes or training.
