Yes. The joys of grandparent summer visits. I once explained to my Grandma, "I was on vacation." She corrected me, and put me to work. Picking vegetables, snapping peas, Green Beans. Picking corn and getting it ready to freeze, or can. Most don't have traditional families. #sad

I did... it was hot, demanding, and miserable... I did it for three years because the money was so good for a high school kid in the 80's... I wish my kids would have done it for a couple of summers... good character building for sure

Nothing like being drenched from morning dew and walking miles with quarter stock. Anything bellow half sucked cause it was tough to grip without damaging the corn.

Detassling corn is exhausting. You go home to tend to the bruised and torn up hands instead of sit back and relax.
