Hotels need to provide a conspicuously placed envelope that encourages the tip. You rarely get what you don't ask for, even though they likely deserve it. It would be the equivalent of a "tip line" and "suggested tip" on restaurant receipts...

Me and my wife do the same usually a thank you note too, she loves cards/notes. We both worked in the service industry so tips were our bread/butter. People that don’t tip are turds.

9 years of running a Janitorial company. Day in day out cleaning offices medical facilities etc Bathrooms a wreck people eating at their desk making a disgusting mess. Me and my people have only ever been tipped on 3 occasions. Dozens of employees hundreds of facilities..3 times
