IQ tests measure intellectual performance ability, which is not precisely the same thing as “intelligence” as it is used in common speech. *Extremely* high IQ often, but not always, indicates maladaptive obsessive qualities, which can impede functional intelligence

"...brain runs so fast that it's hard to pretend to be interested in ordinary conversations." this phrase is golden. Thanks! (I'll still feel guilty but now I know what I'm doing most of the time...)

Hmm. Interesting. We hired a group of high achievers. Ended up having issues with the client. They said we seemed arrogant. Ordered psych tests. We were all intj. The ones I would call high IQ adjusted socially, we fired the ones that didnt.

Intelligent people get their Big Breakthrough when they leave their brain. Sadly 99% of ‘smart’ people get trapped in their brain a whole lifetime.

Poverty DOES play a role. Family fights are typic'ly over small things: I was sitting there, I was watching that, is that my shirt? Better-off people don't have to share, each has their own. They get along better, fight less; I have friends who NEVER fought even 1x in their life.

Maybe a gorilla mindset shift could help smarter people take more of an interest in small talk

High IQ is a greater recognition of patterns and has little to do with timeframes

I can engage in small talk and trivial discussions just fine, but it's fake. I don't care, unless it's with someone that I have an emotional connection with. Then sure we can talk about food all day.

Nah, high IQ just means better abstract problem solving. It correlates positively with lots of admirable qualities but at 40-60% levels so not set in stone. Good social skills can be found at all IQ levels. Same with long time preferences.

Pretty sure this is inaccurate. High IQ are also more associated with mental disorders so whatever social skills they’ve acquired must be some sort of an act
