Makes sense for some people, but the companies that don't require a degree for a white collar job are the exceptions. All that said, I have worked for myself for most of my working life and college didn't prepare me for it.

advised both mine to take on a trade and apprenticship then if they want to further their education many companies will assist.

One option is to just take the classes you need to learn enough to start your own business.

This is exactly the advice I give my child, “You can go to college or, present me with a business plan and the cost of 1 year of tuition will be your business’s initial investment.

Thank God it was $5000 a year when I went, and thankfully liberalism was calm and not shoved down my throat.

Modern day college grads, are parent-ally subsidized spoiled brats who go around telling other people who pulled themselves up by their boot straps, "hey listen to me, I went to college" to people who found real success without it. And the gullible eat it right up.

I went to community college for one year. Paid cash, no loans. I didn’t get a degree but I still ended up with a great career that pays more than your average college graduate. I learned my profession from my dad, not school.

I didn’t get off Scott free when it comes to student loan debt. I’m still paying for my stay at home wife’s student loans lol.
