Living in a single parent home is never the best environment to grow up in

It shows his drive and work ethic.. he saw something he wanted & figured out on his own how to achieve it.

If there is no Dad in the home, the burden falls to the child? Or the state...neither one is a good choice

It shows he has empathy and compassion and has his priorities right! For people saying single parent family is bad, I’m sure it wasn’t the original plan, but at least she raised a hell of a kid who knows what being a good person is really about and has his priorities right!

I am seeing a lot of judgement towards the single mom. Yes, it is better if a kid is born into a family with a mom and a dad but it helps NO ONE to attack the mom. Also, don't feel bad for the kid, he's already a bigger man that a lot of adult males out there

It could be, time will tell. It shows some sense of responsibility in overcoming what, in all likelihood, is a very poorly dealt hand.

Sigh... he was forced to become the man of the house because there wasn’t one. Good kid, prolly missed out on being a kid.
