Most Twitter personalities haven't evolved to the level where they start realizing that lower, but quality engagement, is significantly better than high volume, low quality engagement. Everyone's ego is addicted to metrics like follower count and tweet/post views.

True. After I cut back on posting to free sites, I stepped back to take a look at all the comments, in general. Lots of negative nancies, happy to freeload and complain (or worse, play suck-up), but few legit good vibes.
