This problem is global tho. Scam/spam calls for faux IRS (Canada: CRA) run all across the USA, Canada & Western Europe. All calls use spoofed telephone numbers & VOIP. Telcos actually have access to the tech to stop it (like spam email) but won't invest. Costs $$$ to implement.

It’s happening in Canada too - call centres in India - with North American phone numbers they have purchased.

My girlfriend came home from work last night crying because she thought she was going to prison for screwing up her taxes... How with their total surveillance state the FBI doesn't have time to fix this, is an example of why the FBI needs to be disbanded.

It seems like this should be easy to solve with technology. It has to be very easy to detect inbound (to a particular carrier) calls coming from the same source in way too high of volume to be normal calling. Say AT&T could restrict any IP address to a limited number...1/

..of calls on to their network each day. I have a hunch the carriers don’t want to solve the problem because they somehow make money on each spam call.

I pay extra for caller ID on my cell phone each month. One of the scams have been forced (I Assume) somehow to have “Illegal Scam” show up as their name. I get others w/ the fake local numbers. Its out of hand, absolutely.

Might have to go back to a landline to avoid all the spam calls I get.

Millions of Americans being hustled and swindled and govt does nothing. Hustle our bankers though and you’ll go the way of Iraq and Libya.

The spam calls are so annoying. “Credit services” is going to lower my credit card rate..yeah ok! If I’m bored I like to screw with them.

Same here My home phone number is almost entirely scammers or people looking for money My cell is as almost as bad. Mostly spoofed to appear to be "local" numbers, while it turns out to be "Julie" telling me there's not a problem with my credit card, but she has an offer
