I did all the insane amount of homework when I was in private school. Hated it so much I transferred to public. Had more free time so got into making videos. Thank God for that.

I teach chem and physics and rarely assign. Plenty of engineers and pharmacists come from my classroom. Anyone who tells you HW is necessary is lying or incompetent

Homework increases the wage gap because the privileged can hire tutors to help and the under may have to do housework

Check out the education systems in Scandinavia and other European countries. Many primary schools don't have homework at all, Montessori secundary schools very little as most work is done at school, only revising for tests at home and work for papers etc.

My son’s high school here in Sydney has a “no homework” policy. Work does not get assigned to be done at home, period. We know people here who have 15yo kids that almost need therapy from stress because of the volume of homework they get. School gives them PTSD.

4 hrs homework, insane. With a schedule like that they have practically no social life on their own terms at all.

I was the same. My boy is 15, his high school has a “no homework” policy - the teachers should get the lessons taught during the class. They can do revision and some times they have projects/assignments, but they don’t get assigned “homework”. They are much happier kids.

Up thru 2nd grade so far it's been just to get the parents to be involved in their kids' education here. This year it's not even being sent back, just have her do to reinforce what is learned in school and teach her persistence.

My youngest son refuses to do homework too. Academically he's excellent, he's even in the aspire extension program. His teachers aren't too worried about it.

I learned more when our class left the school in buses on excursions to various businesses to see how they operate.
