I'm glad I'm not a parent. My mother loved us very much and sacrificed tremendously to ensure we were taken care of, but her parenting style would be viewed as almost criminal today. I wasn't abused/mistreated, but if adults today witnessed my mom when I was a child, yikes!

Very self aware people though, would try to right the wrongs that their parents did. At least I hope so

You may also see them parenting opposite of how they were parented because they know what it was like to be badly parented & are actively/consciously choosing to break the cycle and give their children what they needed/wanted/wished to have when they were a child.

Exactly. My dad was a drug addict and left when I was 5 years old. I reversed the cycle. I’m the proud father of two beautiful daughters. They literally changed my life. I’m sure the opposite is more common but I’m far from alone.

Not totally true. Some never make mistakes parents did with them and r more tolerant and show love easier. If u can set good boundaries for them that flex, kids respond. U know u have done well when they come 2 u for advice and companionship cause there is positive energy in it.

Thought I was going to be a parent that spanked since I was spanked. I had romanticized it. “Made me who I am...”
