Interestingly enough the US ranks relatively low in terms of social mobility (compared to other rich countries, in particular Scandinavian) - but as you say it’s the “belief you can” - which empirically seems to me much higher in the US than anywhere else.

This is absolutely besides the point (and partly inaccurate: there are countries outside of the US who build breakthrough medical tech for ex/ but no one else is building the next Google). My point was just about social mobility (it’s factual and backed up by several studies)
