i must say its very interesting for an immigrant(such as myself)to hear how poor some Americans are or were, considering how America has been sold to be paved with gold bricks. That said America still has the greatest avenues for upward mobility.

I grew up poor, but it was different. It was urban and coastal. In school, pretty much everyone was poor, to varying degrees. I had it good; I didn't live in one of the high rises. Those were the worst. They're gone now. Row homes were much nicer.
