In America people love to fake being rich or having grown up poor. Most can be fooled, I can't. Hint - Rich guys wear Patek Philippe not Rolex. - Poor kids knew about using margarine counters as "Tupperware."
Or ate cereal out of old margarine bowls. We had a set of 6 bowls from whatever margarine was on sale.

As a child I knew the trash day for every area of my city. We would collect newspapers to recycle. I also knew what day the markets discarded their expired food.
Yup, or having to "macgyver" cutlery and plates lol. In fact that was a pretty consistent theme growing up - if something broke you'd have to improvise or fix it yourself, or do without something you didn't have because replacing it/getting a new one was rarely ever an option

I still do this lol we have multiple repurposed jars in our cupboard. And tons of repurposed plastic containers. The struggle is real.
