My mom and dad were working poor, though no one in America will admit to being anything other than middle class. When my mom had to be institutionalized for bipolar, the bills were huge, and they were always on the precipice of bankruptcy, working out a payment plan.

Socialism isn’t going to solve the problem, nor snide remarks about “They should have saved up more!” However, the drugs my mom needed cost 1/10th of the price charged in America. $1,200 in the U.S. Every month. $120 if you ordered them from Canada. Which is illegal.

When I saw Jordan Peterson's first Rogan podcast, the serious tone he had an impact on me. He wasn't joking about the SJWs; he was visably worried about the future. The contrast with others, like Rogan or Gavin, who seemed to enjoy the SJW circus impressed me.

As you said, the glibness rubbed me the wrong way.

I worked in the health care industry for years and despite being conservative, I've always said the medical system is broken. Its not dualism with capitalism vs socialism surely there is a more nuanced approach

All of my emotional support to you, Mike. My grandmother lived from her 20s to her 90s institutionalised. I didn't even meet her until I was 14. Thanks for reminding me that my dad supporting her throughout her life was a huge undertaking, and he did it so selflessly.

My mother was mentally Ill, too. I realized later in life how badly it influenced me. I spent my childhood without ever knowing that parents comfort children & make them feel safe, and you had to be absolutely perfect or else the ppl around you would unravel and go crazy.

Glib, indeed. A better, but still imperfect response is a discussion about Disability Insurance.

I was institutionalized 2x after my head injury in 2017. I played by the rules my whole life, saved money with a good job, etc.. But nothing short of winning the lotto 2 or 3 times would pay for thoe medical bills. Absolute libertarianism isn't an answer.https://twitter.com/Cernovich/status/1107767024661348352 …

I sympathize. My dad was in long term care for about 5 years before he died. Bled my parents' retirement account (>$2M) dry. Curious that he died about 3 months after the money ran out and they went on medicaid.

In 1923 Congress sold out to Kaiser’s war medicine with Prohibition and elimated the American pharmacist and now only alien commie ghouls can own property in the US(if you’re an American, you are in no way equal to the originals).ghouls OUT confiscate their commie Ltd LLP LLCs.
