Anticipating counterarguments comes off as strawman arguments to me most of the time. I don't think I've ever seen it done well.
I prefer books with a strong point of view - and that also anticipate counter-arguments. "This is why I am right. You're probably thinking that I am wrong because of x, y, and z. Here is why those arguments fail." More engaging!https://twitter.com/Cernovich/status/1107730732539994112 …

I’m part way through Sapiens audiobook now. The first couple hours were fantastic. My biggest issue with his commentary on more recent aspects of society is precisely that he doesn’t do what you’re saying: anticipate and address counterpoints to his perspective.
