strong point of view. if i read a “balanced” book it starts to feel more like compare and contrast. read two books with opposing and strong point of views.

You and Ben make both good points. Balanced can end up being a little dry sometimes, otoh sometimes its good

The “so” tell for cognitive dissonance

a) Being told what to think. b) Being provided with the resources to think for yourself. Persuasion vs argument.

You want strong points of view. Balance is in reading many books with many points of views on a subject. Not just one because Random Critic said it’s the ‘balanced’ one

I look books that can change my mind.

Some men can see both sides (see: F Scott Fitzgerald’s dictum). They are rare. I say own your POV: the balance is achieved in the dialectic between men. The wolf is the wolf. The deer is the deer. The balance comes from their warring; not from each seeing the other’s POV. ;)
