At least 75% of the comments I saw supported the man’s right to self-defense. The kid got choked out later by some other guys and that wasn’t cool tho. In the U.S. assault on a person over 65 years old is a felony.https://twitter.com/washingtonpost/status/1107287334188474369 …

One more time the ‘media’ tries to tell us how to think instead of just reporting the news! The kid did the first assault and had it coming

They guy did nothing wrong. Would have rather seen the kid slapped around instead of choked out. Radicals think cell phones protect them from retaliation

Lol the focus is on egg boy now and not what he wrote. Win for win for the Aussie senator. Media can't get out of their own way. Today's outrage > yesterday's outrage.

Those commenters are confusing "self-defense" with vengeance. A beatdown for an egg. In the US, they'd BOTH be charged with felony assault.

Watch again. He slaps him, then when the kid raises hands up to fight he slaps him again.

He didn’t “punch” him either. He slapped him. I’d call if #FakeNews but most modern journalists have no idea what the difference is.

The kid came for armed with egg and camera. He got what he came for. However, why are kids involved or involving themselves in protests when they cannot be held accountable for their actions?

He didnt get choked out. He was still holding his phone and never stopped recording. If he was getting choked he would have dropped that phone.

The initial punch... Reactionary without time to see it was a kid. The second... Borderline, he probably knew/should have known that it was a kid... But benefit of the doubt. Goons choking the kid? Hell no! The egging itself was TOTALLY deserved! That kid deserves a medal.

Right. While the egg kid certainly (and deservingly) had it coming, fighting aggression with aggression is not how problems should be solved. If the adults would’ve simply detained him without using excessive force then there would’ve been no debate here.

I think the guy that chocked him out was actually one of his body guards. As someone who does that work I would have done the same. Granted minimal if any damage was done to the kid. Still the kid was stupid to do what he did.
