IF government student loans were no longer given the cost of universities would have to decrease- the loans are only feeding the cost inflation by allowing the demands to be FALSLY met. Cut the supply and the demand can’t keep increasing tuition

Another angle would be interest forgiveness on existing loans for those who choose not to file BK

As a Boomer who paid off his student debt, father of Gen Y's paying off their student debt, you make very good points. The Uni's need to also make reforms now and hold the line on costs. Take a look at Purdue and their cost control measures while keeping hi standards.

Cerno is on to something As an economics guy I think we can propose a revenue neutral debt restructuring Some debt forgiveness would free up that money for millennials to spend on other places in the economy I say forgive all interest beyond principal + 0% refinance

The step forward is to make universities guarantee student loans not the government I bet suddenly they care more about who they let in to college and what the professors are teaching

If you can't pay back your student loans, you got a degree in something you shouldn't have. Not my problem. Nor the taxpayers.

Student loan debt is the greatest scam in our nation, made to enrich the bankers. They make loans, that are guaranteed by you and I, the taxpayers, they care not a wit if the child can pay, someone will!

I know someone who in the early 1970's went to community college, got married, had 2 kids, and bought a house. He financed it all with a H.S. diploma and part time drywall and painting jobs.
