This is a biological issue, not political. What's so difficult about adding new categories for varied gender as they do for weight and height in athletics? Why pretend that adjusting hormones and surgery is all it takes to be a gender of choice? It's far more than that. Research!

I expected lowering firefighter test requirements and women casualties in combat to upset people. Nope. I expected the bathroom & locker-room issue to upset people. Nope. Two of those issues mirror why women helped reject the ERA in the 1970s. This won’t upset enough people.
