you can't get rid of student debt in bankruptcy if debt is owned by gov't backed $. I tried:-)

You also typically can't discharge student loans through bankruptcy. Since they are government guaranteed, the government will stay after you until the loan is paid or you expire

I think it’s a little different. I also think $1,000 a month for said student would also take care of the problem.

Because they wouldn’t be better off doing it. They would be doing it after college tho.

We need to address the root cause of student debt. Your proposal would actually exacerbate the problem.

Maybe the bigger challange is realizing a college degree, in many cases, isn't worth the gilded paper it is printed on.

Student loans are NOT discharge-able via Bankruptcy, at this point in time.

Sure but people in college don't get much credit card credit. They have to be more established and have income, and at that point bankruptcy affects assets. Most people fresh out of college have no assets and high student debt. Bankruptcies would skyrocket

Bankruptcy will not wipe away student loan debt. There is virtually no risk to the banks for loaning hundreds of thousands of dollars to unqualified students who are seeking degrees that will all but guarantee future unemployment. It's a scam & universities are in on it.

You think 4% is realistic? More than Gary and the entire libertarian party plus Jill Stein?
