If student loans were dischargeble in bankruptcy, who would write student loans?
-
On 2nd thought, this might be a feature rather than a bug. The ease of obtaining loans is why tuition has grown much faster than inflation. If the kids can't get loans, the colleges can't soak up that ready loot.

You missed 2 steps. Student loan debt to be treated like all other debt. Step 1: No more government subsidized loans. Step 2: Interest rates based on unsecured debt. Step 3: dischargable in bankruptcy

You’d get 80% of the millennial vote. Student loans are the next bubble..

how about capping interest rate on student loans for qualified education expenses at a very low rate - dont agree with dischargeable in bankruptcy
-
my youngest totally using the system - doesn't want to grow up - would love to just declare bankruptcy and not grow up - she feels entitled

Bankruptcy rate for student loans would be well over 50-75% if that was the case. Too easy to take sabbatical, claim no income & travel the world while U escape student loans. That said, bankruptcy laws R insanely abused & should B amended in generalhttps://twitter.com/Cernovich/status/1105526730729480193?s=19 …

The only way to make it work would be to consider defaulted student loans an advance on tax refunds, and impose a minimum on federal taxes to be deducted from your paycheck.

You could also reform the public school system so that you're less required to go to college.

Should the schools take the hit or the government/loan institutions? Schools should be responsible for making their students capable of getting a job in their respected fields. What if schools weren't allowed to charge tuition, but only to recoup a capped % of student earnings?
