Excellent. Other than "how you feel is how you feel".This can be changed and sometimes needs intervention. Giving space to self explore and allow a necessary change (these can occur through fight or flight knee jerk feelings and actions) is obviously best if possible. An opinion.

regular honest personal inventory is key in parenting, marriage, business. Business's that don't take inventory go broke so do relationships.

And if this was not your parents, the sooner you can get started fixing things the better. Unfortunately most are in denial that their parents weren’t flawless.
