One trend, which can't be unique to me, is "Trump fatigue." I don't care about Michael Cohen's testimony, nor does the "Everything Trump does is 4-D chess," line of "thinking" interest me. It's all boring. Which means there is room for something new. What will that be?
One meta-trend is....A place where, for lack of better language, "People won't fuck with you." Somewhere that people can talk, no one is going to get all super offended or shout down speech, but no one is going to be a bigoted asshole, either. Such places are rare.
I disagree but only that such places are rare. Those places happen to be outside of the major cities. Places that we have room to breath and the desire to live without constant conflict. Places where people truly live and let live, not just talk about it.
The annual Daddy/Daughter dance at my kids' school feels that way. No politics. No rich dad - poor dad BS. Men of all walks of life compelled to mingle and do awkward shit now and then all for then pleasure of our mutual priority- our gorgeous babies. My wife laughs at my recaps
That place is my living room, my truck, or my buddy's balcony where we smoke cigars. Those places are rare, indeed. Requires the ability to remove anyone not able to handle some interesting discussions, so I have to have control over who is allowed in those places.
They're only rare because of the ubiquity of thought policing and outrage culture. I'm not even an old man, and I remember a time where speech and even disagreement enjoyed a whole lot more freedom.
An all-inclusive Libertarianism has potential to free us from Hatfield-McCoy political posturing. Just needs the right messenger.

Worth seeking out. In everyday life, we can surround ourselves with those that create meaningful relationships and dialogue or instead have drama creep into the picture without immediately confronting it as needing to be removed for mental health. Certainly easier said than done.
Or conversation that isnt just people regurgitating talking points they see on TV or in their morning media matters email. My inlaws are dems who are super smart but their politics are straight off MSNBC and it bothers me to talk to them bc I know they are closer to libertarian

You are correct, Mike. I have a group very intelligent and creative friends and we're currently working on creating such an environment in the form of a podcast, live streaming, etc.. Got everything ready for tonight for our first attempt recording, wish us luck. :)
It almost maks sense to curate a huge slack channel for likeminded people or something....after reading about FB bringing in low skill "monitors" and "moderators"...it is clear that if human moderators are going to be used in tech going forward then it should be high IQ people.

Transferring the immutability of blockchain to human interaction online or social media. When you can delete everything you say from record, or claim you were hacked, or be pretending to be someone else- creating that place is hard. Blockchain could solve that.
