This!! Earlier today they had an AP reporter on Fox News to discuss the Smollett story, and he had no idea about what was going on. He was unaware of things that are already confirmed. Would’ve been better to have @RaferWeigel or @RobElgasABC7

People like authority figures they grow to trust over time Cronkite, Rather, etc It becomes a form of mind control & they become to cult leaders. It still is an effective approach for those who still watch TV

I agree, but sometimes the local reporters won't toe the 'narrative' line. See the San Diego local reporters interviewed but not included in CNN coverage of the border wall debate here.
