A couple walks with a boy. They say "We have one other kid". Odds the other kid is a (G)irl ? 50-50 u say? WRONG. They could've had: GG-GB-BG-BB. They have at least 1 Boy, so GG is out. The last 3 cases are left. With one Boy out to walk, it remains: G - G - B. Girl = 2/3.

Many people state the problem misleadingly by not pointing out that Monty Hall KNOWS what's behind every door.

Is it me or is the matrix in the article missing the scenario where the contestant chooses not to switch?

I'm amazed people still talk about this 30 years on. I'm gonna go see if ol' Marilyn is still around.

She is! 72 years old. Living in NYC.

It seems counterintuitive at first, but a good way to conceptualize it is if you use a larger number. Say 52 cards, and you are supposed to pick the king of hearts and you pick a card. Then 50 wrong cards are removed and you are asked if you want to switch or keep the original.
