I have yet to read a mainstream news article about nuclear energy (which is the greenest energy) where they use the word radioactive or radiation correctly. Not once!
Create a narrative. Find evidence to support the narrative. When the evidence doesn't support the narrative, use that as evidence that the narrative remains true. This is all of modern media.

What do those two words mean?

Radioactive is an element with an unstable nucleus. They are particles that react chemically like any stable version of the same element. To become stable it releases radiation. Analogy: Radioactivity is the dog poop, radiation is the stink.

That reminds me of Rumsfeld, Cheney et al who, in the seventies, used the lack of evidence for Soviet advanced weapons as evidence the Soviets had advanced weapons and so there was needed expansion of US military capabilities to keep pace.

The media are vultures. Had an encounter with them some years back (stolen powered wheelchair), wanted it back, did stories with two local networks (ABC and Fox affiliates) the 2nd one wanted me to accept a replacement chair during the interview, all for their story.
