Why do people who don’t live in Queens think they know what is best for them? Residents opposed the AmazonHQ2. But people with no connection to area say they are wrong.

I’m in Manhattan and I own over 1mm sf of office space in Queens. And guess what? It’s 70% vacant because Queens is hurting. Nobody wants to live and work in Queens. Commuting is even worse. Amazon was going to save Queens.

Midtown office rents are $110/sf 88% occupancy Queens office rents are 45$/sf 30% occupancy I own both buildings, same quality. Queens needed amazon way more than amazon needed queens.

Construction would be local though, and probably union. There’s plenty of software developers who would move to queens to live and shop. You’d be surprised how many people just hate all change . I’ve got mine, keep everything the same is their attitude
